Sunnyhill offers supported living as an option for children and adults with developmental disabilities who wish to live in the community and need some assistance.
People served by Sunnyhill work together with staff, families and significant others to determine their needs and interests. Emphasis is placed on personal choice so each living arrangement is unique. Support can be as complex as twenty-four hour supervision or as simple as weekly assistance with budgeting and bill-paying. Sunnyhill staff members are available to help people learn necessary living skills, develop paid and unpaid supports, and form relationships that will help them live in the community.
Independent Supported Living Arrangements (ISLA)
Through Sunnyhill's Independent Supported Living Arrangements adults have choices on how they will live their lives. They live in their own homes, have jobs and are a part of the greater community. They get the help they need to make their own decisions in life. Help might be a trip to the grocery store or assistance in making a budget and paying bills. They also are encouraged and assisted in pursuing hobbies and other recreational activities. The ISLA program currently provides up to 10 hours of support weekly on an ongoing basis to 128 individuals.
Medicaid Waiver Individual Supported Living (ISL) Program
The ISL program is designed to meet the individual support needs of each person served. The goal is to teach living skills and create the opportunities for individuals to fulfill their dreams and their individual potential. For many individuals, Sunnyhill coordinates medical supports and 24 hour supervision by staff as well as provides personal care and homemaker services, transportation, and medication administration. People learn safety skills and emergency evacuation procedures. We also help people maintain the safety and upkeep of their home or apartment. The ISL program is funded by St. Louis Regional Center of the Department of Mental Health and the Federal Medicaid Waiver.
The Living Center
