Mary and Albert’s story is one of friendship, love, and independence. After meeting in the mid 1990s, their friendship grew into a lifelong partnership, leading to marriage in 2019. Through Sunnyhill’s Independent Supported Living Assistance (ISLA) program, they have gained the skills and confidence to build a life together, manage everyday responsibilities, and pursue the activities they love. From traveling and attending sporting events to trying new hobbies and spending quiet evenings together, Mary and Albert are living the life they chose, proving that empowered living includes the opportunity to love, belong, and thrive.

Megan: I Am A Cook

Since joining the Sunnyhill ISLA program in 2016, Megan has grown into a confident and engaged individual who enjoys learning new skills and exploring her interests. Recently, she set a personal goal focused on health and cooking, taking on the challenge of preparing a detailed low-carb meal. With support from staff, Megan learned kitchen safety skills, followed a multi-step recipe, and spent over two hours preparing a fresh, nutritious dish from start to finish. Her experience reflects growing independence, confidence, and pride in learning through doing.
